Location: Oxford, UK preferred. Other Oxfam office locations and remote working within Oxfam office locations may be considered subject to being able to establish a contract of employment with relevant hosting Oxfam affiliate.

Contract:12 months from start of contract.

Salary: £29,680 gross per annum (Oxford/UK only). In non-UK location, salary dependent on location.

The Role

Are you a full stack web developer looking to use your skills to help those in poverty? Do you like finding novel ways to connect a best of breed selection of tools into one ecosystem? Have you got experience of helping communities come together online and helping them find value in digital collaboration?

Then we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team delivering our global digital workplace that will enable Oxfam’s approx. 9 000 staff working in over 90 countries to find, connect and collaborate with each other effectively to further our fight against poverty.

Reporting to the Digital Workplace Manager, this is critical role in the design and delivery of this suite of platforms. By helping us create the “glue” between the systems, this full stack developer role will help us create a connected ecosystem of tools that gives our worldwide staff a frictionless experience in their digital work lives. Our current ecosystem includes Drupal, Workplace by Facebook, Box, Okta and more.

As the successful applicant, you will have experience in all layers of the LAMP stack, and experience of REST APIs and Graph APIs. You’ll have experience in delivery of Drupal systems, be a skillful and thoughtful PHP developer, and have extensive knowledge of the Drupal API. You’ll have a proven maintenance record of Drupal systems including knowledge of Linux, MySQL, Apache and Drush, and hands on knowledge of HTML(5), CSS(3), Javascript/Query. Knowledge of SCIM is useful.

To work well with our immediate team you’ll need to be familiar with best-practice development processes: Git, Agile, test driven development processes, continuous integration and be comfortable with a dispersed/virtual team environment.

You’ll need to have experience of overseeing and signing off the work of others, and have a deep understanding of user driven development. You’ll need to be able to demonstrate your affinity for working within a mix of technical and non-technical team mates, and to demonstrate your ability to plan and manage your own workload in this kind of environment.

Finally you’ll need to have a strong commitment to Oxfam’s mission and values, and you’ll need to work effectively in a multi-cultural and dispersed, virtual team environment.

Fluency in English is required.
