Oxfam International is unable to guarantee the obtaining of a work permit for the role. Candidates must already have and be able to retain the legal right to work in the location where they are based. We are not able to support the relocation of a candidate to take up the position in an Oxfam location.

The Role

Oxfam International Secretariat is looking for Gender and Climate Justice Knowledge Coordinator to scale for impact Oxfam’s work on Gender and Climate Justice, including the coordination and facilitation of a confederation-wide working group to help drive Oxfam's commitment to the intersection of Gender and Climate Justice by enabling effective ways of working, communication and network building.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Oxfam’s Gender Climate Justice Working Group (GJCJ WG), supporting and connecting affiliates, country, and regional offices’ work on gender and climate justice. Supporting purpose-driven learning process and spaces to co-create.
  • Consolidate the Gender Climate Justice Working Group objectives, annual work plan and ways of working, ensuring both the overall group and its individuals workstreams are functioning well and individually/collectively advancing Oxfam’s commitments.
  • Consolidate the Gender Climate Justice Working Group network and foster strong engagement among members, ensuring cross collaboration, integration, and north/south balance within the group.
  • Identifies cutting-edge themes for knowledge development, learning and application within Oxfam, based on demands from WG members, and other internal and external stakeholders such as Collaboration with feminist and WRO, climate and care, etc.
  • Create leverage on gender within the different areas of work.
  • Develop and implement strategies to further strengthen Oxfam’s work on gender and climate justice and its intersections with other areas, tracking and advising on current and emerging global trends and opportunities.
  • Develop and communicate knowledge and learning processes and products of the Working group, and update relevant information in relevant communication channels (workplace, compass, etc).
  • Drive confederation-wide synergies, ensuring cross-collaboration and liaise with key internal stakeholders to integrate gender and climate justice in programming and advocacy.
  • Drive innovation in feminist methodologies and community learning approaches and application.

Who we're looking for

  • Experience on gender justice, feminist approaches and climate justice issues, with demonstrable expertise on the climate and gender intersection/ nexus and of related networks and actors at global and/ or regional levels.
  • Demonstrable expertise on intersectional and decolonial feminist perspectives on climate justice.
  • Proven experience in utilizing digital platforms to support online communities.
  • Experience in organizing, facilitating and managing events and workshops.
  • Ability to digest and present complex issues in a way that makes thethem accessible to different target audiences.
  • Results oriented with strong project and information management skills, including the ability to hold complex spaces and to coordinate and facilitate diverse groups.
  •  Strong people and communication skills, with the ability to work across boundaries and to lead and motivate others.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of feminist and decolonial ways of working.
  • Innovative, creative and solutions focused, with the ability to achieve agreed outcomes with limited direct authority.
  • Good understanding of related Oxfam Microsoft Office Tools (Teams, Workplace, Compass).
  • Fluent or with a strong working knowledge (written and spoken) of English with knowledge of Spanish,
  • French and/ or Arabic a distinct advantage.
