The Role

Oxfam International Regional Asia Platform  is looking for Regional Safeguarding Advisor to help deliver Oxfam’s strategy and program to protect those we work with from sexual exploitation and abuse perpetrated by Oxfam representatives. 

Who we're looking for

Experience of working and/ or living in the Region
• Experience of working with GBV/ Safeguarding cases
• Experience of working within an international NGO or UN context
• Skilled in identifying, mitigating and managing safeguarding risks
• Strong facilitation and presentation skills
• Commitment to upholding and modelling Oxfam’s values, demonstrating integrity, diplomacy,
professionalism, reliability and resilience at all times.
• Able to work professionally and with a high degree of confidentiality at all times.
• Ability to quickly build personal rapport and trust
• Empathy for the challenge’s survivors face in reporting and the pressures an investigation
places on all stakeholders, including the alleged perpetrator and management.
• Experience in receiving allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse, and providing support to
those affected
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Competent understanding of predominant / local languages spoken in the Region
• Ability to travel regularly within the region
• Ability to analyse safeguarding needs in relation to the regional context and adapt responses
to accordingly, demonstrating creativity and sensitivity to power dynamics, particularly in
unstable environments.

  1.  Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences and gender issues, as well as the commitment to equal opportunities.
  2. Ability to demonstrate an openness and willingness to learn about the application of gender/gender mainstreaming, women’s rights, and diversity for all aspects of development work.
  3. Commitment to Oxfam’s safeguarding policies to ensure all people who come into contact with Oxfam are as safe as possible
