Salary and benefits: €78,568 (mid-point), plus representation allowance. Benefits include (but not limited to): 25 days holiday (+ public holidays); Pension scheme; Life Assurance cover; Travel and Personal Accident policy; Workplace counselling service

Oxfam International is unable to guarantee the obtaining of a work permit for the role. Candidates must have and be able to retain the legal right to work in the European Union. We are not able to support the relocation of a candidate to take up the position in an Oxfam location.

Flexible working: We believe flexible working is key to building the Secretariat of the future, so we’re open to talking through the type of flexible arrangements which might work for you. This role, like any other role in the EU office, is partially home-based (max 2 days a week). Part-time may be considered.

 

The Role

Oxfam International’s EU Office is looking for an EU Aid Policy and Development Finance Policy Advisor. The post holder will develop and implement advocacy strategies to influence policy and programmatic decisions of key European countries and the European Union’s on aid quality and quantity. The post holder will strengthen Oxfam’s understanding of, and ability to influence, key European/EU aid and development policies and decision-making processes, including the EU’s Multi-Annual Financial Framework and the NDICI-Global Europe. The post holder is also a key member of Oxfam’s Aid and Development finance team. This is a global team across the Oxfam Confederation that aims to increase the amount of finance available to reduce poverty and inequality, while ensuring this funding adheres to principles of impact, effectiveness, transparency, and accountability.

Who we’re looking for

The ideal candidate has a high self-awareness and is an influencer pur sang. They are also able to tick off the following criteria: 

  • Excellent knowledge of development aid policy and trends, particularly at a European level.
  • Knowledge of relevant EU institutions and several key European countries (ways of working, agendas, and how to influence them) and track record in influencing.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills, ability to think strategically and creatively towards achieving results and good project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to motivate, influence and negotiate both internally and externally for advocacy and media work.
  • Proven capacity to work successfully in alliances and at alliance building.
  • Experience working (with colleagues) in country offices and / or translating programs to advocacy.
  • Ability to set priorities and organize the work autonomously with minimal day-to-day management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including good teamwork and experience in working in multi-cultural and virtual teams.
  • Commitment to Oxfam’s values, especially on decolonializing aid.
